Cleopatra’s Omelet
A formula film with no merit whatever. Three highly paid characters more or less being themselves, which doesn’t add to much. There is some travel, and some action as per what the bosses like. Enough viewers seem to as well.
Ms Gadot is pretty unappealing when she isn’t associated with an inherited identity.
The one thing marginally interesting is the double long con. I really like these when done well.
The sketch here is Gal is in a sexual partnership with an arms dealer as a surprise to our two temporarily paired thieves, then ditches him. The two men work together against her. Then it is revealed that Duane and Gal are lovers and have been silently working against Ryan.
But there’s no sophistication at all to either of these cons. They are plot twists merely.
There’s no clever adaptation like in say the Oceans films. There’s no way of going back and recalling how you have been fooled, though Duane does precisely that, walking us through the ‘clues’ we should have gotten.
