I use Apple products. I probably would use them even if the experience were poor, if they didn’t give utility, purely because of the privacy issue. But they do give pleasure. Some of that pleasure is in the absolute quality of the user experience. I simply like that there is some consideration, and in many cases basic research behind the decisions they make. I may not like the decisions, but generally I do, and the coherent vision is apparent.

Everyone else is a follower. They copy. Windows is a copy. Android is a copy. What I would lose in shifting is my relationship to the creator. That relationship isn’t everything, but it is darn essential.

Everything Tarantino does is borrowed and slammed together. It’s android. It’s not genuine. Nothing comes from his vision. So I find these a bit repulsive; how many things can I steal and serve in an incoherent context, as if there’s intrinsic irony in synthetic exaggeration. Not enough.

I just watched a first film from a talented team. Wobbly in a few spots but a grand adventure in a strange area. As the film rolled, I was invited into that team’s collective imagination, pointed by him. This is an intimacy to be valued, an honesty and genuineness.

Jennifer is great in a Cronenberg universe. Not here.

Jackson is the same guy in every role. We must like that guy.
